Caleb: If the news keeps you up at night asking why God hasn't stepped in yet, this is for you. I end up staring at the ceiling asking the same thing.

Hannah: I've stared at that same ceiling. Someone wrote in 2 Peter, chapter 3, about the Lord's promise and those who count it slow. Listen to what he says.

Scripture: The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Caleb: So some people count it as slow?

Hannah: Looks that way. The writer says "as some count slowness." Just before this, the writer calls them beloved and says one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Caleb: Okay, but a thousand years sounds like a convenient excuse. People are hurting right now.

Hannah: They are, and that hurt is real. But notice what he says. He calls it patience, and he's talking about people.

Caleb: So the wait is patience? That's hard to feel when everything's broken.

Hannah: I don't have every answer. But the same passage looks ahead to new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. I hold onto that.

Caleb: And where does that leave someone like me, who kind of drifted off?

Hannah: And that patience has a name: Jesus. He went to the cross for us and rose again, so anyone who drifted can come home by trusting him. You could start with, God, I want to know you.

Hannah: Maybe a long wait is patience, not neglect. When God feels quiet, what do you usually take that to mean? Follow along if you'd like more talks like this.
