Mark: I keep promising myself I'll quit this one habit, and I keep ending up right back in it. Is getting free even a real thing?

Sarah: I wrestle with stuff too, so I won't pretend it's simple. The letter, written by Paul and Timothy to the church in Colossae, speaks of being delivered and forgiven, so listen to Colossians 1:13-14.

Scripture: who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love; in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins;

Mark: Okay, but who was he even writing to?

Sarah: The book says Paul and Timothy wrote to the church in Colossae, a small city near Laodicea, about a hundred miles from Ephesus.

Mark: And what's going on right around that verse? Because it kind of drops in the middle of a letter.

Sarah: They tell them they keep praying for them, for knowledge, strength, endurance and joy, and they give thanks to the Father. Then they point to the Son, through whom all things were created and in whom all things are held together. Redemption and forgiveness are found in him.

Mark: The verse says he delivered us out of the power of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love. In plain words, in Jesus we have forgiveness of our sins, and trusting him is how we get a new start. I want you saved because I love you, and I want you with me in heaven forever.

Sarah: One way to start is talking to God plainly. Even just saying, God, I want to know you. I still stumble, and I trust that in Jesus all things are held together.
