Transcript

Caleb: If you've ever nodded along when someone said born again, with no clue what it meant, this one's for you. I've done that.

Hannah: Nicodemus wondered about this too, and here's what Jesus told him.

Scripture: Jesus answered him, “Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom.”

Caleb: So who was Nicodemus, and why did Jesus tell him that?

Hannah: A Pharisee, a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus at night and said God was clearly with him.

Caleb: He asked how an old man can be born again. Can he enter his mother's womb a second time?

Hannah: He asked, and I'd have wondered too. Jesus told him that what's born of the flesh is flesh, and what's born of the Spirit is spirit.

Caleb: I wonder, is being born anew something we receive rather than achieve?

Hannah: Jesus did say, "You must be born anew." As I understand it, that means new life from God by his Spirit. I need this too.

Caleb: I didn't earn it by trying harder. I'm saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

Hannah: Maybe just tell God, I want to know you. When a faith word loses you, what do you do? Follow if you'd like.
