Word for word
Jake, you're my spotter and my Bible guy, so be straight. I just started caring about God. Is it too late?
Tyler, in Matthew 20, a vineyard owner hires workers all day, even near the end. Listen.
Scripture: When those who were hired at about the eleventh hour came, they each received a denarius.
Wait, the guys hired at the eleventh hour got a full denarius? Bro, that is doing one set and walking out with the whole pump.
Right? He found them standing around, and they said no one had hired them. So he sent them in too.
Okay, but that's not fair, dude. The guys who sweated all day expected more. I'd be fuming.
They did, man. But the owner called one of them friend and said he wasn't wronging him. They'd agreed on the pay.
So what's the gym version? I've got zero reps with God, and I feel behind everybody.
One way to read it: the owner paid the first workers what he agreed, and paid the last workers the same. That's what the passage says.
Follow for more good news. When you show up late to something, what holds you back from trusting you can still belong?
