John 10:27-28, World English Bible
Questions to talk about
Word for word
Caleb: My neighbor says you can lose your salvation if you mess up enough. Is that true?
Hannah: I don't have every answer, Caleb, but here is what Jesus says. It's winter, in the temple, and a crowd wants him to say plainly who he is.
Scripture: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
Caleb: Sheep, huh. So who exactly does he mean by sheep?
Hannah: The ones who listen and follow. That's how he describes them.
Caleb: Okay, but I've drifted. Doesn't that mean I've slipped out of his hand?
Hannah: I've drifted too. But notice whose hand it is. Jesus said his sheep will never perish, and no one will snatch them from his hand.
Caleb: Sounds almost too easy. Does he say anything more?
Hannah: He does. He says his Father, who is greater than all, holds them too.
Caleb: Okay. So what do I do with the fear that I've drifted?
Hannah: Jesus says his sheep, who hear and follow him, will never perish, and no one can snatch them from his hand. His Father holds them too. Tonight, tell God honestly about that fear, and talk with a real friend or a local church. You watching this, I'm glad you stopped by. I hope you find that rest too. Follow along.
