Caleb: Gran always dragged one more chair to the table for whoever showed up. Jesus spoke of many homes in his Father's house, and a place prepared for you.

Hannah: Maybe your gran's kitchen isn't so far from this. Jesus said something to his followers that I've leaned on a lot. Here it is.

Scripture: In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.

Caleb: That's kind of lovely. But who was he talking to? Thomas answers him, so it looks like his followers.

Hannah: Right before it, he tells them not to let their hearts be troubled.

Caleb: Okay, but how does anybody actually know? A place in the Father's house sounds like something you hope for, not something you can be sure of.

Hannah: The promise centres on him: I will prepare a place, I will come again, and I will receive you.

Caleb: Still, I've made a lot of messes. I'm not sure I'm the kind of person who gets a chair.

Hannah: Neither am I. I've made mistakes too. Thomas asked how to know the way, and Jesus said, I am the way.

Caleb: So what does he actually ask of me?

Hannah: It says, Believe in God, believe also in me. Christian writers describe being saved as God's grace, not our own works. You could tell God, I want to know you, if that's how you feel.

Hannah: Think about what you hope is waiting for you, and hold it next to what Jesus said. This is an invitation, no pressure. If this helped, follow along, and I'll see you tomorrow.
